How can I review paperwork my client is working on?

You can review paperwork your client is working on by having them add you as a reviewer to the document set. Once you’ve been added as a reviewer, you’ll be able to review and confirm the information entered for the document set. Depending on when your client adds you as a reviewer, your client may not be able to send out signature requests or release signatures until you’ve confirmed the information. See How can I have my client add me as a reviewer? for more information.

How can I review the document set?

  1. You’ll receive an email notification when your client would like you to review information for a document set.

  1. Once you’ve accepted your client’s request to review information, you’ll see the information you need to review.

  1. To leave a comment for your client, click the comment icon. By default, leaving a comment will also flag the field as invalid. If you don’t want to flag the field, you can turn off flagging by clicking the flag icon before you leave your comment. Be aware that the document set can’t be finalized until each flagged field is resolved, either by someone updating the field or leaving a new comment without a flag.

  1. For document sets with field groups, you can choose to view information by field or by field group. Depending on the information, viewing by field or by field group may help you review the document set more efficiently.

By default, the information is organized by field group. In some cases, viewing by field group may be the easiest way to review the information. For example, suppose you’re reviewing a document set involving the issuance of shares to the co-founders of a client. For each founder, you may want to compare the total number of shares being issued against the number of those shares that will be subject to vesting. Viewing by field groups will make this easier by grouping the information entered for each founder together.

Reviewing by field, on the other hand, will show you the information entered for fields of the same type, side-by-side.  To see why this may be helpful, suppose you’re still reviewing a document set involving the issuance of shares to the co-founders of a client.  You may want to compare what was entered into the same type of field for different founders.  For example, you might know that the total number of shares being issued should be the same for each founder. You can easily compare those values if you view the information by field.

  1. If you’re familiar with the forms, you can simply review the information for the document set as it’s listed. If you’d prefer to review the information in the context of the entire document, open the More (···) menu and select Download All Documents.

What happens after I’ve reviewed information for a document set?

If you’ve left a comment for your client to review, your client will get an email notification. If necessary, your client can follow the link in the email and correct or edit information they’ve entered.

After your client resolves the comment, you’ll receive an email notification. After you’ve reviewed and confirmed the information, your client will get an email letting them know they can proceed with the next steps.

If you were added as a reviewer prior to your client sending out signature requests, then the next step for your client is to request signatures.

If you were added as a reviewer after signature requests have been sent, but before everyone has signed, the next step is for the remaining people to sign.

If you were added as a reviewer after everyone has signed, but before the document set has been finalized, the next step is to release signatures.
