How does billing for document sets work?
By default, the person who starts a document set will be responsible for its invoice, but you can re-assign the invoice to someone else. People on your client’s team can also re-assign invoices. See How do I re-assign the invoice for a document set to someone else? for step-by-step instructions.
We offer two different pricing plans that affect how often and when your client will get billed for document sets:
The Company Lifetime Package contains our Formation products, including third-party fees for incorporation (but excluding third-party fees for foreign qualification). This package also includes unlimited use of our Fundraising, Hiring, Commercial, and Maintenance products, excluding any third-party fees, for the lifetime of your client’s startup.
With the Pay-Per-Use plan, your client would pay for each document set they complete.
Note
Regardless of the payment plan, by default, teams will only receive access to products when they've completed the prerequisite paperwork on Clerky.
Billing for document set finalization is different when a filing is involved. Your client must pay for the incorporation document set (or for other products that include a filing) after they’ve signed the paperwork, but before we submit it for filing. Once we’ve submitted the paperwork for filing, the document set won’t be finalized until the relevant state agency files the paperwork and we upload the filed documents to the client’s team.
