What's the difference between an observer and a reviewer?

Reviewer

A reviewer reviews the information entered into a document set on Clerky. Reviewers are usually a startup’s attorney or someone who is familiar with their situation and the Clerky product they are using. For more information, see What is a reviewer?

Observer

An observer receives emails from Clerky with copies of the documents for the party they observe. For more information, see What is an observer?

Actively involved in document set?

Yes.

All reviewers must confirm the information before signature requests can be sent out and the document set can proceed.

No.

No action is necessary from an observer.

Emailed request to participate?

Yes.

Clerky will email reviewers an invitation to participate in the document set.

No.
Emailed document drafts? No.

Yes.

When a party is emailed a signature request, Clerky emails all observers for that party. Copies of the documents will be included as attachments.

Emailed final PDFs? No.

Yes.

When a document set is finalized, Clerky emails all parties copies of the final signed and dated PDFs they signed. Clerky will also email observers the same PDFs.

How to add?

On the Review Information step, click Add Reviewer.

When adding a reviewer, you have the option to designate them as an observer as well.

On the Request Signatures step, click Add Observer.
