What should I do if a client wants access to Clerky products?

There are a few different ways you can give your client access to Clerky products, depending on whether your client has incorporated their startup using Clerky.

This article will cover the following situations:

My client hasn’t incorporated yet

Your client needs to have incorporated their startup in order to access Clerky products. If your client hasn’t yet incorporated, you can:

My client incorporated using Clerky

If your client incorporated using Clerky, they’ll automatically get access to products as they complete the prerequisite paperwork. You can refer your client to Help Center for Startups: How does access to Clerky products work? for a comprehensive guide to product access.

My client incorporated but didn’t use Clerky

If your client incorporated outside of Clerky, you can give them access to our products after you’ve reviewed their existing paperwork. Clerky doesn’t review paperwork for startups that incorporated elsewhere, so it’s important to confirm that your client’s paperwork doesn't have problems and is compatible with our products.

Clerky requires all startups that incorporated elsewhere to get access to our products through their startup attorney. We do this to help reduce the chances of startups causing themselves problems by completing additional legal paperwork before they're ready to do so or that might be incompatible with their existing paperwork. You can refer your client to What if I’ve already formed an entity for my startup? if they have questions about why your involvement is required.

After you’ve completed your review, you can create a new team for your client and give them access to products as you see fit. See How do I create a team for a new client? and How do I give a client’s team access to a specific Clerky product? for step-by-step instructions.
